Lakeland Predators Wrestling Club

The Lakeland Predators Wrestling Club is an organization designed to give as many local grade school aged kids as possible the opportunity to wrestle. Based at Antioch Community High School, we are convenient to families in the Chain of Lakes region stretching into Wisconsin.  We strive to be flexible, low maintenance and affordable.  With a focus on sportsmanship- we teach kids to wrestle, work hard, and have fun while providing competitive opportunities for both inexperienced and experienced wrestlers.  We are members of the Illinois Kids Wrestling Federation and our club members are carded by USA Wrestling.


Practices begin at the beginning of November, days are Monday through Thursday.  All kids should plan to attend practices on Tuesdays/Thurdsays.  Monday/Wednesday practices are optional.  Our primary practice site is Antioch High School.  All practices start at 6:30 PM.  The younger kids usually end by 7:30 PM and the older groups work out until 8:00 PM.  Practice attire is usually a t-shirt with shorts (no snaps or buttons) or a singlet.  Wrestling shoes are needed and we strongly suggest all kids wear headgear.


Tournaments run December through February and are strongly recommended. They are usually on Sundays, start with 7:00am weigh-ins and end between noon and 3:00pm. Most of the tournaments we attend will have a 1st year division for the younger kids or will attempt to bracket the less experienced kids together.  Also, usually the events will have awards for all participants. Entry fees are typically $15.00 per wrestler and ARE NOT included in the club registration fee.   All tournaments require wrestling shoes and headgear.


Post Season tournaments start in February and run into March.  The North Chicago Regionals are open to all ages, with the North Chicago Sectionals open to top finishers in the Intermediate, Novice, and Senior divisions.  "State" tournaments for the younger kids are the Illinois Bantam Championships (6-8) and the Midget State Championships (9-10).  The IKWF state tournament is open to all kids who place top 3 in the Novice or Senior divisions at Sectionals.
